GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the overall financial, operational and academic performance of the Health Sciences vertical of and all associated institutions, partnerships and entities within the Laureate Global Products & Services (GPS) division. The CEO leads the strategic planning process, provision of resources, alliance-building, and productivity measurement and improvement. Additionally, the CEO will develop and execute strategies and tactics to reach the respective audiences, building the institutions' brands and reputation, with an emphasis on expanding the Laureate footprint throughout the world. He/she will ensure that our positioning in the health sciences audience area drives achievement of projected growth targets and reaches our audience of prospective students.

This position can be based in San Mateo, CA, Austin, Texas or St. Augustine, Florida and will require 25% travel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific areas of oversight include:

  • Develop and promote strategic priorities for the health sciences vertical in concert with overarching Laureate priorities.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with relevant regulatory agencies, including licensing and accrediting bodies and higher education boards. Manage programmatic accreditation as well as regional/national accreditation in consultation with Laureate central services.
  • Plan and administer the annual budget, managing both revenue and expense, as well as long term strategic planning for the growth of the business. Responsible for fiscal management to include P&L, revenue and alignment with overall strategic objectives and key performance indicators.
  • Assess needs for resources to support business expansion and ensure that resources are planned for, acquired, and properly implemented.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a for-profit, high growth environment where change management is essential.
  • Individual will work closely with the appropriate institutional boards to bring recommendations for consideration in making major policy decisions, fostering communication with and among all members of the board, and will engage the board in the formulation and implementation of strategic and budget plans to advance the mission and goals.
  • Must work in a cooperative and collaborative relationship with Laureate Global Products & Services (GPS) divisional team(s).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Credentials Sought:

  • An advanced degree (i.e. Master's Business Management, MBA, Juris Doctorate, EdD, PhD) with extensive business experience in the field of Health Sciences.
  • A minimum of 15 years of general management experience in a growing enterprise. Must have demonstrated and significant prior P&L responsibility.
  • Must possess a solid understanding and knowledge of the higher education industry in order to provide educated recommendations to management on direction, profitability, and ROI for new and existing programs in the health sciences audience area.
  • Demonstrated and proven experience identifying, recommending and developing strategic plans for potential market opportunities in the assigned area.
  • Strong record of senior leadership in a for-profit environment.
  • Must demonstrate experience in operating in an environment across functional and divisional lines.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading and managing a high growth operation is highly preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated research and analytic skills, as well as the ability to take disparate information (research data, brainstorming ideas, etc.) and make strategic recommendations quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver presentations to senior level management and the entire organization.
  • Proven ability to communicate issues and recommendations persuasively and effectively to key stakeholders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills.
